According to NJ.COM Bayonne Municipal Prosecutor Maggi S. Khalil has been fined by the city for operating an Illegal Apartment. Khalil was hired by Mayor James Davis in October. The Davis Administration claimed hiring Khalil would save the city 80K a year.
According to New Jersey State Law, Khalil can now never prosecute someone in violation of the housing code. The city hasn’t returned our phone calls about the employment status of Ms. Khalil. Khalil told the Jersey Journal that “The allegations have no merit and I fully expect the appropriate disposition in the proper venue,” More information can be read here.
Tow days ago the mayor vowed to stop illegal apartments in a statement on his website.
