The rumors are true. Bayonne Police Athletic League will be closing its doors for good. Bayonne Local first reported last year that Mayor Jimmy Davis and Alphonso “Tutti” Strickland had a falling out about money. No one is really sure why Davis is pulling the plug in the P.A.L.  All we know is that the order came from the top.  Only a year later, Davis is axing funds to the iconic program that has been helping Bayonne kids stay off the streets for decades. There is a petition circulating Facebook to “save” the P.A.L. But, the final decision has been made by Mayor Davis and the City will be cutting off its main funding source and evicting the program from its home in the coming months. City Hall refused our written requests for comment.
