Funds are available for seniors and disabled people whose homes were damaged by Hurricane Sandy. Eligible households can receive up to $5,000, if the homes still have damage from the hurricane. The home repair program can help with: 1) replacing interior wall boards; 2) remediating mold; 3) restoring heating and cooling systems; 4) fixing electrical systems; 5) patching roofs; 6) cutting or removing trees; 7) disposing of debris; and 8) refurbishing major home appliances.
In order to qualify for financial assistance, the applicants must meet the grant requirements, and the proposed expense must be a direct result of the hurricane. Help is available from the Bayonne Economic Opportunity Foundation (BEOF). Please call the BEOF at 201-437-7222, and ask for either Jon Kiniery at extension 14, or Donna Cullen at extension 23. Mr. Kiniery’s e-mail address is firstname.lastname@example.org. Ms Cullen’s e-mail address is email@example.com. Applications will be accepted at the BEOF Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and Wednesdays, from 8:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. The BEOF is located at 555 Kennedy Boulevard in Bayonne.
